I have always maintained a healthy lifestyle that included routine workouts on weight-resistance machines and other physical activity (brisk outdoor walks, swimming). In the summer of 2008, this lifestyle changed drastically when I was diagnosed with cancer. My workouts were replaced with numerous medical appointments, including two months of chemotherapy and radiation. I spent 5 days in the hospital for treatment of a blood clot caused by the chemotherapy port. I became fatigued and weak , possessing only enough energy for an occasional walk. I also gained weight, complements of the lifestyle changes and medications. I had become an older, sicker person.
When my treatments were completed in late summer, I returned to the recreation center with the hopes of re-establishing my exercise routines and my previous level of fitness. For several months, I would show up at the center 2 or 3 times a week to force myself to complete a single set on the weight equipment. It was boring and uninspiring, and my fitness level didn't budge. In January, I decided to find a meaningful workout activity and started kettlebell classes. Within a few weeks, I had my health, energy and enthusiasm back. I lost weight and regained my focus.
I appreciate the challenge and diversity in the kettlebell classes. I am never bored, and my body is never bored. I feel well again. That older, sicker person has disappeared for now.
Thank you for the opportunity to tell my story.

I was first introduced to a kettlebell four years ago. When I first laid eyes on the iron ball I had no idea what or how you workout with it, I thought it was an abnormally big paper weight. I was searching for a trainer that could help me with my golf game. I was an overweight, average American teenager weighing in at 180. I soon became aware of a local trainer named Doug. He changed my lifestyle, and introduced me to the best workout program I have ever done which was highlighted by kettlebells. Doug soon left to have the gym taken over by yet another dedicated trainer Amy. When I started working with Amy I thought I was a kettlebell hotshot. However, I realized I needed some safety precaution guidance with just basic moves. Once I had safety processed, I thought I conquered the aggravating bell, but I realized there are endless moves and they never get any easier. These movements with the bell helped my golf game immensely by increasing my distance with my driver thirty yards by training over one winter with kettlebells. I have yet to find another piece of equipment that can do as much as a kettlebell. I lost thirty pounds in two years and gained thirty yards with my driver. My fat turned to muscle and I have never had so much confidence on and off the golf course. All of our hard work contributed to me receiving a college golf scholarship. Thanks BBOM!

I have had the privilege of training with BBOM from its inception with Doug Nepodal RKC Senior. Since his recent promotion, he has chosen the most qualified RKC trainers to instill a method of training that encourages and promotes strength and wellness.
What has been in our Lives in the past has nothing to do with what we can be. Being married for 19 years and then left with 5 kids to raise took all my passion for life away and even my love for fitness. The Shifting of "I can't to I can" is an encouraging tool that I have learned thru my many sessions of training at BBOM. No matter what life brings to me, having courage is more exhilarating than the fear, one little step at a time. "Strength truly does come from within". The physical strength inside this gym not only comes from within, it comes from their heart!

The shirt off moment….I arrived in my fitness quest due to kettle bell was this past March while at the Arnold expo. My Buddy and his wife, Kathy (who also comes to kettle bell) were at same hotel. We were getting ready to head out for the morning and he made a comment I looked in better shape than ever before. It’s what I call the shirt off moment!
I always had trouble with diet and training and was just in a rut with weights and did not feel great about myself. I was doing the same workout over and over, but not seeing results, frustrating. That was until I found BBOM…..
When I started Kettle bell With Amy I noticed the trouble areas like love handles going away which was fine with me because I was not getting any love with them!
My friend Derek who is 52 lifts weights and in great shape also gave me a complement so I knew this was working! He never gives complements!!!!
I was starting to change my wardrobe and clothes started looking better. My co- workers noticed the change also. I owe it all to Amy and the other fine looking females at BBOM who have kicked my ass into better shape!
"I got my ass kicked into shape by the fine looking females of BBOM in Medina! It ought to be a saying on a Tee shirt!
Also Kettlebell has enabled me to hit harder in martial arts. Kettlebell is the closest thing you can do for combat cardio for all out fighting without throwing a punch or a Kick!
